this is how i feel this morning. which is nice. little. lazy reading sunday with coffee and rain outside. a day with only the pressing task of grocery shopping, something i enjoy mightily.
we went out to the opening of the vancouver jazz feston friday to see aki takase performing her fats waller project with a truly incredible band. (with eugene chadbourne on banjo and vocals!) what a show! a perfect mix of joint jumping plus head twisting. i’m going to track down the record immediately. there are more shows for them in canada, check out her website above, or eugene’s. it was great.
in home news i’m working steadily on the life support packages. the dining table is a riot of prize ribbon detritus. oh, and there’s a new show scheduled for vancouver on july 24th at the chapel. with a band from calgary called azeda booth. the chapel is a new venue in town, an old funeral home in the downtown eastside. a beautiful art deco building. i have high hopes for it, we sure need more places to see music in this town.
and for all you folks outside of vancouver, there are plans for touring next year. canada, usa, uk, and europe. my homebody self will be banished in 2008. and by then i’ll be dying to play, so it works out well i think. this is a nice year of recharge over here.
ok, happy sunday to you all. xv
heyo for some reason the photo isn’t coming up, i’m working on it….
Dang! A tour in 2008?
I will definitely have to plan a trip!
Hopefully, it will coincide with a concert by Emily Bezar and/or Amy X Neuburg, so I can see the three at once… that will be heavenly!
Take care!
yay for Veda in Europe! *cheer*
This time I will not miss your tour Veda! And you know, Sweden is a part of Europe…
per, if you have any ideas of where i should play in sweden then get ahold of constanze on the contact page. anyone, if you think there is somewhere good to play that will also be able to pay some kind of artist fee, please get in touch. i’d love to hit some new countries next year. xv
We have to work on your big Brazil tour, though…
Those darn lucky Europeans are spoiled enough as it is… 😉
