in replacement for the missing chapel gig, me and the band are going to play the lamplighter with azeda booth on monday july 23. this is the day after mix, so i’m looking forward to rocking out. and speaking of music, another band i really like right now is art af oryx. i hope we’ll be playing with them in berlin next spring.
other upcoming gigs: the fits play with geoff berner on saturday sept 15 at the railway club. i’ll be in ottawa september 28 playing a tribute to glenn gould. right after that i’ll probably do a few things in toronto. oh, and on august 17 ida is throwing a goodbye party for herself at the railway. we are losing her to the big smoke, which is a tragedy for vancouver and a victory for toronto. the fits will play, i will play, fond of tigers, and more.
i’ll update the tour page shortly. see you soon!
A homage to Glenn Gould?
That sounds fantastic!
Will you play a classical piece or something and will add lyrics in a typical Vedaesque fashion?
i will write a song based somehow on “idea of north”, a radio show that glenn gould made in 1957. he interwove 5 people’s voices talking about the north of canada. its a documentary, but also a sound piece. i’m not quite sure what i will do yet, he was also into hindemith so i might exploit that connection. he also finishes the show with a sibelius symphony, so i might steal from there too. it will eventually be on the radio, so i’ll let you know when. xv
