it is a beautiful spring morning and i’m about to hop on my bike and go make a record. i just wanted to say thanks to all the people who joined the Life Support System yesterday. we sold almost 30 memberships in 10 hours! it is very gratifying to know how much you all care. a real boost for my first day in studio.

now, i spoke to one friend on the phone and she sent me a “count me in” email yesterday that hasn’t arrived. sometimes the electronic path is thorny, i suppose. if you send a life support system request and you haven’t had a response or an invoice within 48 hours, please check in again.

alright, now wish me luck with the gods of digital music documentation. that just doesn’t sound as good as “the gods of 2 inch tape”, but what can you do. we live now, most certainly. xx v Continue reading day one in studio

hello friends. warning: what follows is a blatant pitch for cash, albeit in exchange for some interesting goodies and a noble sense of patronage.

i am just about to start making my new record, This Riot Life. it’s a big project, with 14 songs and 12 great musicians. we’re all working together in the studio, with 2 drummers, bass, strings, horns, a small choir, and ford pier who is his own category. it has the makings of an epic project, and i’m raring to go.

there is a small problem though; I don’t have enough money to entirely realize this album the way i would like to. i will find a way, of course. part of that way-finding is offering you a chance to “get involved”. what does that mean? why, that means that for the low low price of $99.95 you can be a member of the Life Support System! here’s what you get:

-one of the very first copies of This Riot Life when it is complete*, signed and numbered.
-a special limited edition live version of Field Study, recorded january 28.07 with a 7 piece ensemble, also signed and numbered.
-a 5 song ep of songs from This Riot Life (studio demos and live recordings), available almost a year before the album comes out.
-a prize ribbon, handmade by me.
-and wait, there’s more! as a bonus, you get one other veda hille record of your choice. if you choose one of the early or out-of-print records it will be a burned copy with approximate artwork (drawn by me!).

and all for the low low price of $99.95! we are only making 100 of these packages, so act now! just send an email to payment@vedahille.com giving us your mailing address and choice of bonus record. we’ll send you a paypal invoice** and bingo! you’ll be in The System!

below is a rebroadcast of plants, as part of the Field Study Life Support Album. thanks for listening, and have a lovely day.
