emerge blinking in the sun

and so here we are, crawling out of a week in studio. people, we are making a good record! i don’t want to overhype anything, but the band is all feeling kinda chuffed. “best one yet”, folks are saying. time will tell, but it was certainly an intense and fun time. we go in again in may to work on horns, casio parts, vocals, and the formidable guitar stylings of the ford pier. i’m actually experiencing a bit of post-recording melancholy, because it is my favorite part. but i have other things to work on for a bit. we are playing a gig on may 6th at the wise hall if anyone happens to be in vancouver. cbc will record it too, and i’ll let you know when it will be aired.

and thanks so much to all who have joined the Life Support System. i am very close now to having enough money to finish the record! there are still some memberships left (see 2 blogs ago for details) if you want to help out/get stuff. but it is very nice to know that you all care about the new music, and that i can hire the horn players that i like, to know that i’m not doing this in a lonely void. all that.

ok, now i’m going to go play badminton. til soon xv Continue reading emerge blinking in the sun

day one in studio

now, i spoke to one friend on the phone and she sent me a “count me in” email yesterday that hasn’t arrived. sometimes the electronic path is thorny, i suppose. if you send a life support system request and you haven’t had a response or an invoice within 48 hours, please check in again.

alright, now wish me luck with the gods of digital music documentation. that just doesn’t sound as good as “the gods of 2 inch tape”, but what can you do. we live now, most certainly. xx v Continue reading day one in studio
