i am just about to start making my new record, This Riot Life. it’s a big project, with 14 songs and 12 great musicians. we’re all working together in the studio, with 2 drummers, bass, strings, horns, a small choir, and ford pier who is his own category. it has the makings of an epic project, and i’m raring to go.

there is a small problem though; I don’t have enough money to entirely realize this album the way i would like to. i will find a way, of course. part of that way-finding is offering you a chance to “get involved”. what does that mean? why, that means that for the low low price of $99.95 you can be a member of the Life Support System! here’s what you get:

i haven’t written yet about my show with the cbc radio orchestra on sunday, perhaps because i am still reeling. i sang buffy st marie songs with beautiful arrangements by giorgio magnanensi. it was a stunning experience for me. to play with so many people with such singular intent, as arranged by giorgio and conducted by alain trudel, and of course written by buffy. it was a rare chance for me to perform more simply. to act more like a vessel or a conduit. i loved it. the show will be aired on cbc2 on may 2 and will also be streamed online. i’ll get the details and post them for you.

in the meantime, rehearsals for the album recording are fully underway. we begin on monday! Continue reading last weekend
