hey gang. i just updated the shows page, a few more festivals and canadian things going on. we’re also going to do a few backyard shows this year, and i’ll post them as soon as we’ve got them organized. interestingly, there are not a lot of europe/uk shows coming through for the fall…..the economic recession does seem to be having an effect on people’s desire to present esoteric canadians. i’m kind of excited to be having a pure writing time, but i know i promised some gigs so if you have any ideas of interesting places that have real pianos and a sense of daring, do let me know.

so, i had the funnest day ever in a while today. the doxa festival asked me to fill a disposable camera with pictures. they asked me and a bunch of celebrities to do this. and then they will auction off the cameras at their festival this may (details at the above link, it’s an ebay auction open to all). so, i got together with all my “friends” and shot stills of our favourite movies. and i took the precaution of shooting it on digital too, so i can show you a coupla teasers! this is the still for let the right one in, a great coming-of-age-with-a-vampire-friend-movie, and a picture of the director haranguing the cast at craft services. we also shot stills for The Piano, Dogtown and Z-Boys, Knocked Up, The Filth and the Fury, Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Some Kind of Monster, the Battleship Potemkin and more! extremely fun. we made a huge mess of the yard.
