emerge blinking in the sun

and so here we are, crawling out of a week in studio. people, we are making a good record! i don’t want to overhype anything, but the band is all feeling kinda chuffed. “best one yet”, folks are saying. time will tell, but it was certainly an intense and fun time. we go in again in may to work on horns, casio parts, vocals, and the formidable guitar stylings of the ford pier. i’m actually experiencing a bit of post-recording melancholy, because it is my favorite part. but i have other things to work on for a bit. we are playing a gig on may 6th at the wise hall if anyone happens to be in vancouver. cbc will record it too, and i’ll let you know when it will be aired.

and thanks so much to all who have joined the Life Support System. i am very close now to having enough money to finish the record! there are still some memberships left (see 2 blogs ago for details) if you want to help out/get stuff. but it is very nice to know that you all care about the new music, and that i can hire the horn players that i like, to know that i’m not doing this in a lonely void. all that.

ok, now i’m going to go play badminton. til soon xv

  1. Great news!

You are getting me too anxious, Mrs. Hille!

And you know your albums are ALWAYS welcome! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am curious to listen to “The Moon”. Will it make it into the new album? I hope so!

    Thanks for the great work,

    Rafael

  2. yes raff, the moon is on the record. and it kicks ass! how do you know about that song? aren’t you in brazil?

  3. Veda, thanks for the report. I must admit that just the thought of manage to record a better record than “Kildeer” makes me sligthly dizzy!

Iร‚ยดm glad you had a great week in the studio and that everything seems to work out fine with money and stuff.

  4. Gosh, so quick!
Of course it will be the best one yet. Just like the last one. My ears are fair drooling in anticipation.

Veda, ‘The Moon’ is mentioned in that Georgia Straight article (posted on your own myspace! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ooh, and now I just have to ask about ‘Soaplands’. Will that one be on the album too?

  5. oh, i forgot about that article reference. and i suppose we also played the moon on the german broadcast too. and yes, soaplands is on there. my husband and my label insisted on that one. i guess i should be careful about saying things like “best one yet”. it certainly feels good, but it could very well be that people like kildeer better. this one is less detailed, more punchy…anyway, i’ll stop talking about it and just finish it. i should never judge the work while i’m in the middle of it.

    cheers v

  6. Hah… Mr. Butthead here missed the rest of the posts in this thread.

Anyway, yeah, I am in Brazil, and “The Moon” is mentioned in that article. Dying to listen to it. I already got the “lyrics”. Both dark and amazing.

And, for the record, I am into Paul Hindemith and his atonal pieces.

He is one of my favourite composers.

And I do believe your next album may be your best yet. Yay!
