“planned tour” 2006
these are pictures from our tour of germany, the czech republic, and a little bit of the uk, in oct/nov 2006. the glamourous title of the tour came from the program in plauen, where they had obviously gone to constanze’s website to see what we were calling the darn thing. i should have had t-shirts made. oh, and the band renamed themselves too. they are now called The Hit Machine, although i forgot to mention it at every show.

here are the boys at the airport in vancouver, ready to go. they very sweetly wore matching outfits for most of the tour.

we went to the botanical gardens in berlin, one of my favorite greenhouses. here are some plants.

the boys in the jungles of berlin.

playing the harpsichord at the dreikonigskirche in dresden.

this is me and my friend petra, after a nice lunch in bremen. i had the fish. and a panna cotta.

ulrike took us for a walk in the hills of fulda. i was reminded of my german grandmother, tess. she was a great one for walking, even in cold and dismal situations.

and then we found a small museum! of taxidermied animals! from decades ago!

summer weasel, and winter weasel. and their friends the ducklings.

i think this is a mink.

and something lynxy.

and my favorite, the vicious european beaver. look out!

afterwards, ulrike took us out for huge knoedel, steamed buns filled with plum jam and covered in vanilla custard. mmmmmm.

there was a sheep in plauen, tied up outside the gig. all alone. i tried to comfort her, but she was uncomfortable.

saint hille.

saint martin at the prague train station.

my friend naomi, taking us to tabor on the train.

me on the train.

the band, once again in a pleasing matching style.

oh look, it’s a stone wall! how is it built, skye?

in the walled city of tabor at sunset.

me and my shishkabob.

saying goodbye to naomi and hilary in tabor.

and now the band has gone home, and i am wandering around london. look, there’s my friend dave gowans in a bar!

and then in exeter, chris lewis took me to see more stuffed animals.

aagh.

and here is chris, in the woods. near the centre for contemporary art and the natural world. looks like a forest to me.

this is whiskey, a very good dog.

and here is mark, my uk agent, on top of his vast mansion in the oxford countryside! i’m not going to show you the pictures of my homecoming, because i look a wreck. better now though. see you next time, in the land of taxidermy!
