a recap of the past few weeks

me n' ami
oh goodness, a whirlwind of a few weeks have gone by. this is a picture of me and my conspirator ami gladstone at the opening of the Greatest Cities show on March 9. since then we’ve also been workshopping the expanded Craigslist piece, which you can see in all its rough glory on may 2 at the arts club revue theatre. i also played at a fundraiser for think city, a gang of really interesting and motivated vancouver people. it inspired me a bit more to stay in our city, although the wanderlust has taken hold of my heart lately. speaking of wanderlust, my husband is on tour with No Kids and is blogging from the road: have a good time at jenkin time. i’ve also been doing a bunch of teaching lately, out in whiterock and at ubc and in my garage. not to mention keeping the child alive and kicking.

things i’m looking forward to: a gig on april 7 at the vancouver art gallery with bill richardson and ivan coyote. The Very Best at the biltmore may 28!!!!!! also at the biltmore, the fits will be joining the fugitives for their cd release on may 26. oh, and if i can possibly make the ryan trecartin talk at emily carr on thursday i’ll be very pleased. there’s a disorganized bunch of information for you. did i mention that i dreamt about viggo mortensen and a rogue killer whale last night? see ya.

tonight’s radio programming

we’re on cbc radio 2 tonight! cheggidout

the greatest cities

THE GREATEST CITIES IN THE WORLD opens tomorrow at the cultch in vancouver. runs through saturday, no public show on thursday. wednesday is pay what you can, with a talk back! i will talk back if you like. COME SEE THIS SHOW. i love it, not everyone will, i’d like to know what you think. is that attractive? hope so. i think this thing is wild. theatre replacement, let their photos convince you.

i fed a blackbird from my hand

that was a good morning. rabbits in the brambles too. for a while i didn’t think about the DEVASTATING ARTS CUTS. whoops. think about ducks, think about ducks.

the theatre replacement greatest cities show is looking good. opens at the cultch in vancouver on march 9, and goes on to play in montreal, ottawa, kitchener, and at the shadbolt in burnaby over the next few months. really intricate weird borrowed language, collected in tennessee by the actors and director. i love it.

all the things i’m working on right now are lucky things. meaning, i feel lucky. greatest cities, leaky heaven and neworld theatre’s peter panties, plus an expanded craigslist cantata with my pals bill richardson and ami gladstone. and this weekend, the oscars! have i mentioned that i love the oscars? i make up a new cocktail every year. this year is Fantastic Mr. Vodka. when i have the ingredients worked out i’ll let you know.
