worser
it arrives today! go ahead and order it! the new duplex album, 4 years in the making/waiting. new songs about evolution, popsicles, attacking animals, and of course, how we make a sandwich. with special guests geoff berner and daughter margot!

ps it is temporarily at the bottom of the music page, weston will fix it for me soon. just couldn’t wait to put it up.

bookish advice

playingatplayingthedrums_litethis is justin’s grandfather pretending to be a drummer. i post it because my webmaster told me it was better to post with pictures, and who am i to argue? especially when this is sitting on my desktop.

i’m looking for book suggestions for our berlin trip. so far i think i’m going to take alex ross’ The Rest Is Noise, and i’m going to reread The Girl Who Trod On A Loaf by Kathryn Davis. anything else?

ps brandon was a great time. go check out this archive site to see where we took inspiration from late 1800s newspapers. more fun than facebook! if you are an archive geek like me.

look out brandon, here i come!

folk triumph

well, that was an excellent folk festival in vancouver this year. highlights for me: arrested development and los abajos on stage 6, john k samson’s new solo songs, fun times playing with dan mangan, and of course bringing our ridiculous craigslist cantata to the mainstage. i’m still a bit dazed and sunstruck, tell truth.

in other tentative technology steps, i am going to try to twitter. i may fail miserably (my god, does the world really need more short-form content?) but if you would like to accompany me on my downward slide feel free to follow along.

escape tonight

you can hear our live version of escape songs on the signal tonight! recorded on june 25 in montreal, the day after st jean…..

dress me up in your love

some pics from the new theatre replacement show Dress Me Up In Your Love, still in workshop. we’ve collected outfits of significance from willing people, and we’re making the stories into Theatah. super fun! the big dance shot is from our 11 o’clock number based on Donna Soares’ grade 9 love letter. and yes, that’s anders in his theatre debut. and jamie long’s red baggy underwear. also pictured: the fabulous conor wylie, sam madely, anita rochon, maiko bae yamamoto, and u hill alumni andrew mcnee.

what else? it’s folk fest season. we’ll be doing the craigslist cantata this sunday night at the vancouver folk music festival. and then special projects in brandon and in salmon arm. soon after that i haul the family over to belrin. or berlin. whichever one we can spell the best.

veda2ok team, i have put the new Theatre Replacement record Do You Want What I Have Got? up on the music page. we’ll be getting them back from the printer next week, so you can go ahead and order now if you’re keen! i can’t figure out how to get it to the top of the page, so you have to scroll down for now. the new duplex album Worser comes out august 1, and i’ll have that up on site soon too so you can order them together if you desire. hey, did i mention that duplex now has a myspace? we do. be our friend. please.

these photos are from my pal bro’s phone up in roberts creek from last month. at the ol’ gumboot. and last night our pal rob shot some video of our backyard concert, which was a smashing success. i love the new no kids songs. and the new kim barlow songs. and i played a few old songs, and decided that our show in december will be a retrospective dealie, with all the ancient hits.
