Hello Ade!
Still using long words in an attempt to sound intelligent? Sandwiches eh? - how things change.
Still, be lovely to catch up if you are in London anytime? Relive the old days perhaps?
Duncan, I think she charges now?

Don't ask how I got here, and the etiquette of imposing oneself in the middle of a conversation about collective nouns is a trifle rude (please accept apologies), but I do have to back Duncan up on the malevolence of terns, although there was something thrilling about the sea that day, and I remember more my being hauled away from the boat's edge by a teacher than a tern taking turns on my sandwich. Hello, by the way.

In my mind's eye, my disturbingly lifelike dreams and every song I've ever written, he's always - ALWAYS used Powerpoint.

I'm looking forward to my summer holiday this year. We'll be staying on the Northumberland coast and will make a point of taking a boatride to the Farne Islands, a starkly beautiful wind- and sea-swept group (sorry, but I don’t know the correct collective noun) of craggy islands which is home to one of the world's great flops.

And an impressive raft of puffins.

And a bazaar of guillemots.

And a flight of cormorants and depending on their specific circumstances, several (diving) doppings / (in flight) plumps / (on water) paddlings / (familial) flushes of eider ducks.

The dread of arctic terns has to be witnessed first hand to appreciate its sheer malevolence. I went on a school trip there around 1975 and the scalps of several small children in my class were punctured by divebombing terns. And poor Adrienne Jolly (whom I admired greatly as a 9 year old) had her cheese sandwich stolen. Bustards.

And is that a slimline Santa doing some sort of marketing presentation for next Christmas's long awaited return of the snorkel parka as an essential fashion accessory?

May we assume, from the pose of the polar bear, that the story features a group (sorry, but I don't know the correct collective noun) of disrespectful seals?
